"My paintings are the result of a lifelong exploration of the symbology of landscape imagery. The landscape abstracted has three essential elements: the sky, the foreground and the horizon. The horizon line anchors the painting, fixing the gaze of the observer, separating the sky from the foreground and establishing depth. The three essential elements of a landscape painting correspond to the fundamental truth about any visual element and any human act. The touch of the paintbrush to the canvas and the smallest dot also create three elements: the inside, the outside and boundary. So the abstracted landscape evokes a human truth, that any single act has at least three consequences, correspondingly to the western belief of a mystical trinity.”
