Robert A. Dye is a professional artist who paints evocative large scale landscapes and abstract paintings in rich and light-saturated oil colors. Robert is also a highly successful economist who has achieved national recognition for his work in economics. He moved to Dallas, Texas in 2011, where he maintains his painting studio. In addition to receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1988, Robert studied classical painting techniques at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is honored to count the late Louis Sloan and Seymour Remenick as mentors. While in the Philadelphia area, Robert spent countless hours painting plein air in the Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey. He also taught painting, drawing and art history at several Philadelphia area art schools, including the Samuel Fleisher Art Memorial and the Hussian School of Art. Since coming to Texas, Robert has expanded his vision of the intimate landscape of the East Coast, to the wide open vistas of Texas. His paintings straddle the line between landscape and abstract imagery, evoking a Turneresque sense of light and space combined with energetic brush strokes and a sensually complex paint surface.
